FAQs

Who can live at Vinson Hall?

Independent Living residences at Vinson Hall Retirement Community are open to commissioned military officers of all branches of service and their immediate family members and to all federal employees from any agency who have achieved a level of GS-14 or higher. Occasionally, special exceptions are made for individuals with a strong connection to our military or government.

I am still very active. Why should I get on the list now?

Many of our residents are very active, maintaining full schedules. Some volunteer with local organizations and many travel extensively. Living at VHRC allows you to engage in all the activities you love without the worry of home upkeep. In addition, prior to moving into VHRC, we invite you to join our Waitlist Signature Program, which allows you to enjoy VHRC’s amenities before you move in. Click here to read more.

If I get on the list now, what happens when my name comes up and I am not ready to move?

You will indicate on your application when you would like to move to Vinson Hall Retirement Community. However, if the time is not right when your name comes up, just tell us and we will go on to the next person on the list. There is no penalty to you.

What do the fees cover?

Monthly fees support the operational costs of the community. The inside pages provide you with a list of what is provided to residents through the monthly fees. The entry fees covers capital improvements at Vinson Hall Retirement Community.

Which entry fee is better?

Two entry fees are offered to give flexibility to residents. Everyone’s financial situation is unique. To help determine which entry fee is better for you, we encourage you to talk with your financial advisor.

What happens when I need assisted living or nursing?

The primary advantage of moving into a Life Plan Community is having higher levels of living and services available to you. Vinson Hall residents are given preference for any openings for assisted living or nursing at Arleigh Burke Pavilion or The Sylvestery.

If my spouse transfers into Arleigh Burke or The Sylvestery, must I move to a smaller apartment?

No, it is your choice to remain in your apartment. Or you may wish to move to a smaller apartment, you will have the first opportunity to do so.
