Frequently Asked Questions About Assisted Living

Who can live at Arleigh Burke Pavilion assisted living?

Arleigh Burke Pavilion assisted living is open to all community members. No military affiliation is required. Preference for open suites will be given to residents currently residing in Vinson Hall Retirement Community.

What do the fees cover?

Arleigh Burke Pavilion assisted living has bundled pricing, which means all the services are wrapped into one cost. There are no hidden costs or fees. The monthly fee covers the fully furnished private suite with a full bath, three meals per day plus snacks, personal care, FiOS TV, telephone, Wi-Fi, linen service, housekeeping, activities, and medication management. Medicare and supplemental insurance do not pay for assisted living services. Most long-term care insurance policies will cover a portion of the daily rate.

What services are available at an additional cost?

Arleigh Burke Pavilion assisted living has its own beauty salon, which is fee-for-service. Outings off campus to a restaurant or museum would be an additional cost. Residents are also able to have Medicare B therapy and hospice support.

What happens if my loved one needs nursing care or rehabilitative care?

Arleigh Burke Pavilion provides nursing care and in-patient rehabilitative care. As a resident of Arleigh Burke assisted living, your loved one would have priority access to these services.

What is the difference between memory care and assisted living?

The Sylvestery is a secure, licensed assisted living community that specializes in providing care and support to those dealing with a diagnosis of dementia. Residents living in a memory care community must have a diagnosis of a serious cognitive impairment. All staff members have additional training to care for and communicate with residents who have dementia. Assisted living residences, like Arleigh Burke Pavilion assisted living, primarily support individuals who need help with their daily living activities (bathing, dressing, toileting) and their instrumental activities of daily living (housekeeping, meal preparation, medication management).

What is the difference between assisted living and nursing care?

Residents in nursing care typically need support with all activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, transferring, toileting, eating). Residents in assisted living can perform a few daily living activities on their own.

Can my loved one receive hospice services at Arleigh Burke Pavilion assisted living?

Yes, hospice can care for residents at any location within Vinson Hall Retirement Community.

What is respite care?

Respite care is a temporary stay in a community while a primary caregiver is away on vacation, recovering from a health concern, or simply needs caregiving relief. When suites are available, Arleigh Burke Pavilion can offer respite stays. A minimum stay of 30 days is required.
