Vinson Hall Retirement Community and the surrounding upscale neighborhoods in McLean are conveniently located just outside of Washington, D.C. In fact, it’s just a 10-mile drive into the bustling city where you’ll find a never-ending wealth of opportunities. If you’re looking for an adventure, then you’ll also find plenty of weekend getaway destinations in this gorgeous Mid-Atlantic region.

In McLean, there are plenty of things to do to support local businesses, restaurants and community. See exhibitions of contemporary works of art at The Emerson, Atrium and Ramp Galleries and watch live performances, concerts, and other events at the Alden Theatre or Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Experience breathtaking views of the Potomac River while at the Great Falls National Park, or try some of popular neighborhood restaurants like Café Oggi, Kazan and Aracosia. There’s also world-class shopping options at the nearby Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria.

Washington D.C.

If you’re in the mood for more vibrant entertainment, internationally recognized museums, galleries, and theaters, or major league sports events, you’ll find everything you could imagine in the D.C. metro area.

You’re spoiled for choice with 10 Smithsonian museums, the National Air and Space Museum, and the National Portrait Gallery to name a few. There’s the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The National Theatre, Ford’s Theatre, and nearly 80 other professional area theaters that stage more than 350 productions annually.

For national and professional sports teams, D.C. has the Washington Football Team (NFL), the Capitals (NHL), the Nationals (MLB), and the Washington Wizards (NBA) for area fans to support.

There are also numerous points of interest, famous architecture and well-known neighborhoods to explore. Try historical walking tours in places like Georgetown, Alexandria and Cleveland Park. Focus on quiet streets lined with charming houses and stately trees or checkout the lively shops, restaurants, and bars while touring.
