Over the ensuing years the housing operation has expanded to a continuing care retirement community consisting of Vinson Hall – independent living, Arleigh Burke Pavilion – nursing and assisted living, and The Sylvestery – assisted living for memory impaired.
Our independent living residence, Vinson Hall, has 179 apartments for former and retired officers of the uniformed services, their spouses, widowed spouses, parents, children, and siblings. Some of our community benefits include: an Activity Center, Swimming pool, Spa, Cyber Café, 24 hour campus-wide security, Housekeeping services, Dining Room Service, Health and Wellness Center, Personal Trainer, Exercise classes, and transportation to Bethesda Naval Medical Center.
Our health care services and assisted living residence, Arleigh Burke Pavilion, serves seventy residents from both the civilian and military communities. Amenities include: full range activity program, twenty-seat theater, beautiful outdoor garden, and library with café.
A state-of-the-art assisted living environment with an award-winning design, The Sylvestery, exclusively cares for those with dementia related illnesses. Their mission, to make “every moment count”, provides those living with dementia an opportunity to experience meaning and comfort through a program of activities-based care and cognitive stimulation.
In March 2004, we opened our newly renovated assisted-living unit with 20 bright spacious suites, a movie theatre, and library café. These unique features meet the social and recreational needs of our residents while improving their quality of life through excellent care.
In keeping with its mission, the Foundation provides confidential financial support for all eligible residents. In 2005, the support of our donors enabled the Foundation to provide over $700,000 in assistance to our residents who have outlived their financial resources. Incredibly, this is $250,000 more than we have provided in recent years. We need your support to continue serving our residents.
