Charleston Chamber Orchestra is a University/community semi-professional ensemble which performs throughout the academic semesters on the campus of West Virginia State University and in the greater Charleston area of West Virginia. On August 18, 2015, students, community members and professional musicians gathered for their first rehearsal as the Charleston Chamber Orchestra. Under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Dr. Scott E. Woodard, their first concert was given at West Virginia State University’s in Fannin S. Belcher Theater in December 2015. The orchestra has included many esteemed artist, such as violinist Cristian Fatu, trumpet David Porter, violinist Gabriel Croitoru, D.M.A, West Virginia composer Matthew Jackfert, flutist Lindsey Goodman and pianist Victoria Fatu.
The members of the ensemble were honored to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York City as part of Music Celebrations International’s Viennese Master’s Invitational in June of 2018, the Capitol Orchestra Festival in the Kennedy Center February of 2019, and in the Musikverein in Vienna as part of the Beethoven 250th Celebration! The Charleston Chamber Orchestra strives to create a welcoming, enriching, family-friendly and educational atmosphere for all ages. Refreshments & Meet and Greet after concert.
