Vinson Hall's Senior Expert

Arlington Magazine

Director of Marketing Dave DeClark named Senior Expert by Arlington Magazine - here is a brief interview to learn more about Dave and Vinson Hall

I have heard a lot about Vinson Hall, but aren’t you just for retired military officers?

We hear this question a lot because we were established for widowed sea service wives in 1969. The Arleigh Burke Pavilion, which offers assisted living, skilled nursing and long-term nursing, and The Sylvestery, offering memory care, are both open to the public and do not require any military affiliation. Vinson Hall’s independent living, however, is open only to commissioned officers and immediate family from all U.S. Uniformed Services, as well as government employees of equal rank from the Departments of State and Defense, the CIA and the Foreign Service.

Our vibrant community, home to almost 400 residents, is centrally located on 20 acres in McLean, within easy reach of shopping, dining and D.C. attractions. Coming in the fall, we are expanding our campus with 75 stunning and large independent living apartment homes with underground parking. In an expansive new community center we will offer a state-of-the-art short-term rehabilitation unit with all private rooms, as well as a bistro, convenience store, reading room and large ballroom for performances and special events.

What makes Vinson Hall a unique community?

Vinson Hall is more than just a Continuing Care Retirement Community. Supported by Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation, we have historically reached out to support our neighboring community, develop community partnerships, create innovative models for senior living, and host programs for wellness and health. The Foundation raises funds that are designated for new research and technology and resident scholarships, which enable us to continually build a better future for our residents. Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation also supports Wounded Warrior Transitional Housing at Vinson Hall.
