We are working very diligently at VHRC to keep our residents and staff safe from infection by the COVID-19 virus. Starting in late February, an Emergency Operations Preparedness team was brought together and has been lead by our Infection Preventionist. The team has daily teleconferences to discuss the rate of infection in the greater Washington, DC Metro area and to create protocols to protect VHRC staff and residents. The decisions created by this team are shared frequently with our community. Below are links to communications sent to residents. As the pandemic has evolved our restrictions have increased. We know these restrictions take a toll on everyone. We are proud of the responses of our staff and residents. Staff members have stepped outside the standard roles and responsibilities to help better meet the needs of residents during these changed times. We are also very proud of our residents who are adapting to our changed circumstances with creativity and diligence. Thank you to everyone for helping keep our community safe!
VHRC is also following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention instructions that all individuals should wear a mask. If surgical masks are unavailable, VHRC is advising its non-clinical staff to wear cloth masks. Please click here to see instructions on how to make cloth masks or follow CDC guidance.
