Vinson Hall—Independent Living
Concierge Services
Residents are always seeking an extra pair of hands, and often request volunteers to assist with miscellaneous household tasks such as moving boxes or organizing shelves that are out of reach. Volunteers may also be needed to teach basic computer operations to residents wishing to learn. Some frequently asked questions pertain to writing emails, performing searches online, and printing documents.
Grounds Maintenance
Residents take great pride in the beautiful gardens, trees, plants and flowers that surround Vinson Hall Retirement Community. Volunteers are needed to help maintain this beautiful setting and provide a home-like environment for the residents. We welcome groups wishing to spend the day outdoors, getting their hands dirty on behalf of our community!
Administrative Assistance
Our staff needs your help too! Between delivering packages to the residents, helping the Development and Marketing departments with mailers and filing paperwork, and working with Housekeeping to tidy common areas, you are guaranteed to stay busy!
Arleigh Burke Pavilion—Assisted and Nursing Care Living
Scheduled Activities
Residents participate in an abundance of engaging activities to enrich their daily lives. Volunteers are needed to assist residents to and from event locations and help with tasks during arts & crafts, sensory events and various games. Join in the fun and share your thoughts and experiences with our residents.
Music Programs
Our residents enjoy music of all types. We need volunteers to share their talents and would welcome you to play during a party, or schedule a special event performance. Individuals and groups are welcome.
The Sylvestery—Dementia Support Living
Scheduled Activities
Residents participate in a variety of activities, from Bingo to Balloon toss to cooking classes. Volunteers will help the staff run the activities, as well as gently guide the reidents through the rules and procedures.
Arts & Crafts
Residents enjoy activities such as beading, collage or decorating objects. Volunteers are needed daily to work with staff to organize these late afternoon activities for residents, as well as assist residents wishing to participate.
Performers
Our residents are enthusiastic about music of all kinds and would welcome new performers of all ages. Sing-a-long performances are especially popular, and there is a piano available for use in the common area.
Sensory Oasis
Volunteers are needed to accompany residents into our Sensory Oasis, which is an engaging multi sensory environment. The room is designed as a calming environment for dementia residents. Contents include fiber optics, tactile items, calming projector scenes, etc. Volunteers needed on a regular and long term basis.
Treasure Shop-Consignment and Thrift Shop
Volunteers are needed to help with daily operations of the Treasure Shop, the consignment and thrift shop benefitting Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation. Volunteers will assist with organizing and recording inventory of consigned and donated items, run the cash register, and provide customer service to clients and donors.
