    Resident Association
In lieu of a resident council, because The Sylvestery is a memory-impaired residence, our Administrator holds a quarterly meeting that all family and friends are encouraged to attend. At these meetings new developments, policy implementations, staff changes, etc., are brought to the attention of family and friends for their review. All family and friends are invited to bring up issues of concern, and provide suggestions for the betterment of the community.

    Spiritual Care
Vinson Hall has a chapel that is available for services of any belief—memorial services, weddings, private worships and meditations. The door is always open and the lights are inviting, [offering] private time 24 hours a day.    VH resident

    Activities & Entertainment
At The Sylvestery we believe that for those with dementia every moment of the day is an opportunity to experience meaning and comfort through a program of activities based care and cognitive stimulation. Our residents enjoy music and moderate physical activity such as:
 Creative movement
 Yoga
 Walking
 Balloon volleyball
 Fitness classes
They also appreciate a good joke or a warm-hearted story, history and reminiscence, current events, sing-a-longs and card games. The key to interaction at The Sylvestery is respect, sincerity and compassion. Our emphasis is on engaging individuals and small groups through meaningful activity geared to their interests and life experiences. Click here to download a calendar of scheduled activities.
Activities and entertainment for the residents are planned by our Program Coordinator and implemented by staff and volunteers. We have had school groups, church groups and individuals volunteer their time for musical performances, special events and daily activities. Or they just spend some personal time with a resident—sharing a meal, reading current events or playing a game. We always welcome volunteers to help us keep our residents active and involved. If you are interested in volunteering at The Sylvestery (or at any of our residences) click here for more information.
