Life at The Sylvestery
Our staff excels at keeping residents engaged and fulfilled. By telling us about your loved one’s life pre-memory loss, we can better determine interests and abilities, to create an individual service plan for each resident that helps us make each interaction more personal and meaningful. We create activities based on individual abilities and group interests in areas such as music, art appreciation, baking and history.
Our robust life enrichment calendar includes visits from professional entertainers, parties and cookouts, and off-campus outings to restaurants and local attractions. Residents are encouraged to participate in Life Enrichment activities, but are free to what they want, when they want.
The Sylvestery is committed to using new technologies to enhance everyday life. The Sensory Oasis room provides a soothing array of images, sounds, textures and scents designed to help soothe and relax residents, and Paro, an interactive, therapeutic robotic seal to reduce stress and increase socialization. Additionally, Skype enables family members to speak with residents face-to-face via videoconference.
Often, we find that even those who spend years in isolation in their homes enjoy their newfound opportunities to explore and socialize without restriction. New friendships blossom here all the time, and family is always welcome to visit, share a delicious, freshly made meal in our Compass Rose Café, participate in activities and accompany us on outings.
