Vinson Hall Dining Services offers a unique “Dining Room Plan” that includes a maximum of options and choices for residents. At Vinson Hall there is no set “minimum” for dining plans that would require residents to select and pay for meals whether or not they actually eat them. Instead, we substitute much more freedom of choice. Vinson Hall’s Penthouse Dining Room operates—for all practical purposes—just like a fine restaurant. Each resident pays what essentially amounts to a raw food cost for the meals they choose. Our plan offers maximum choice—allowing residents to select meals they actually want, and the choice of dining at a time they prefer.
The extensive á la carte menu provides the options of Light Fare, Healthy Choice Items, Sandwiches and various Entrees of fish, chicken, pasta and beef, while the weekly specials menu offers varied fresh, seasonal items for lunch and dinner.
Our new Bistro is open in the Community Building. Check out the latest seasonal flat bread cooked in our pizza oven or try a smooth cocktail at our full-service bar. It's a fun, relaxing way to enjoy a casual bite to eat. Check out this summer's menu!
For those who prefer lighter meals or are looking for a quick, delicious snack, the informal Café offers lighter fare options.

Health & Wellness Center

Spiritual Care is an integral component of the Vinson Hall tradition of holistic care provided for residents of all faith traditions. A genuine respect for ALL faith traditions is upheld here and religious services are offered to meet the worship needs of all residents at the Vinson Hall Chapel and throughout the community. Our Director of Ministerial Services serves offers on-site spiritual counseling for residents, family members and staff, and regularly provides visitation in residences, as well as hospitals and other care settings to address spiritual and religious needs of residents who are ill or convalescing or in rehabilitation programs.
For your peace of mind, our campus is staffed by security 24-hours a day and exterior camera surveillance is utilized. Our front desk is staffed 24-hours a day, and access to exterior doors is limited to residents with a key. For additional security, an emergency call system is available in every apartment.
The choice of hobbies and other leisure pastimes at Vinson Hall is as varied as the interests of our residents. Whether you’re a novice at a hobby or activity you’ve always wanted to pursue, or a seasoned veteran, you’re always invited to join in on these and other resident-organized activities:
- Quilting and Knitting
- Pool, Poker Nights and Bridge Clubs
- Resident Computer Stations
- Woodworking and Electronics
If your particular interests aren’t currently represented at Vinson Hall, you needn’t be shy about organizing your own group. There are many active residents, and chances are you’ll find others with similar interests.
Lifelong learning at Vinson hall starts with our spacious, well-stocked library, where our part-time, volunteer librarian can assist you in checking out or ordering books from the Fairfax County Public Library system. You can also peruse our own collection, which includes paperbacks, mysteries, biographies, historical works, fiction, reference, audio, large print books and movies on videocassette and DVD. And that’s just the beginning of lifelong learning at Vinson Hall!
Thanks to Rosa Weinstein and the other volunteer teachers from Himmelfarb Mobile University, residents of Vinson Hall enjoy presentations on topics ranging from the history of man to the history of candy. While some classes are serious and others more lighthearted, all are educational, entertaining and interactive. And they all take place right here in our community!
Our strong partnership with The George Washington University enables us to offer monthly intergenerational programs during the school year, allowing our residents and students to learn from one another as they discuss various topics of interest.
Inspired by resident suggestions and participation, our events and trips are limited only by the interests of the residents themselves. Our Special Events Coordinator receives new suggestions for outings and events each day, and he often solicits resident comments and suggestions.
To date, we have experienced outings to museums, art galleries, concert venues, theaters and Charlestown Races and Slots. We have enjoyed Christmas festivities at the Mormon Temple and traveled to Bull Run Park; we have traveled the Maryland Scenic Railroad and taken overnight trips to Shenandoah National Park to enjoy the fall colors, and to a magnificent estate in Middleburg, VA for a “personal retreat.”
