The Treasure Shop

In the summer of 1971 two Vinson Hall residents suggested a resale consignment facility “to raise funds and assist residents by the sale of unneeded furnishing, home goods and jewelry to other military personnel in the area.” On September 14, 1971 the Treasure Shop, staffed by Vinson Hall residents and members of the Naval Officers’ Wives Club, opened its doors. Since then the Treasure Shop has contributed over $500,000 to the Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation, with all proceeds supporting the Residents Assistance Fund, which assists residents of Vinson Hall Retirement Community who have outlived their resources.

Today the Treasure Shop is still staffed entirely by volunteers (from Vinson Hall and the local community) and our doors are open for business to the general public.
