Residence in Vinson Hall independent living apartment homes is open only to commissioned officers in the uniformed services; i.e., U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or the U.S. Public Health Service. A resident may also be a widow, widower, spouse, former spouse, or immediate family member (parent or child) of an individual meeting the uniformed services criteria.

Vinson Hall independent living is now also open to individuals having served the federal government in a civil service grade of GS-14 (or equivalent) and above, with the Department of State or the Department of Defense, including NASA, DIA, DLA and the CIA. Also considered will be those who have served in the Foreign Service at the level of Class 1, 2 or 3. These individuals and their widows will be eligible.

Vinson Hall Is Growing And Renewing!

McLean, VA - Vinson Hall Retirement Community, home since 1969 to commissioned military officers ages 62 and older and their immediate family members, is entering into a brand new stage of growth and renovation. Now also open to select GS-14 and above federal employees, the community will add 75 new apartment homes over the next three years, ranging in size from 1,200 to 2,100 square feet.

Also planned for the property is a new community center, which will feature an informal grill-style bistro, a library, a multi-purpose room, classrooms, and spaces for many favorite activities.

Complementing this exciting addition is the renovation of existing apartment homes, lobby , corridors and building facade.
